Halloween in Ithaca 09
Our first return trip to Ithaca happened this past weekend for the Halloween weekend. What luck to have Halloween on a Saturday AND on daylight savings! We went back at one of the best times of the year to be in Ithaca (so beautiful!) and had the best weather we could have asked for! Plus we were more than due for some quality time with the friends we left behind in our former city. I don’t know how we managed it, but we got to see practically everyone we wanted to see and make some new friends in the short time we were there. <3 Ithaca, <3 Halloween!
Andrew got out of work a few hours early so we could hit the road before traffic got bad and still get into Ithaca at a decent time since it is a 6 hour drive from Boston. We picked up some pizza from The Nines and some beer at Weggles,» on our way in and headed straight over to the boy's» place on Danby Rd. Dorreen and Mike Strasbourg came over to hang and play drinking games. Before the drinking games I introduced them to PeopleOfWalmart and we spent a considerable amount of time laughing our asses off. It was so chill and fun to be surrounded by friends. I certainly miss that.
Saturday morning (Halloween day!) started off with a tasty adventure to Sunset Grill with Matt and Mike. Damn good breakfast! On our way back to the house we stopped at La Tourelle Spa to check into prices for our wedding next autumn. Turns out the Honeymoon Suite was already booked for our dates! We booked the next best room they had available since we didn’t want to end up with nothing and there was no deposit required so we could cancel if we find something better. After dropping off Mike and Matt, we headed out to see Jason and Shorty at work for a minute before we ran a few errands around town (namely Walmart and Wegmans again since they’re novel now since they aren’t in Brighton). Jason had some time between his shifts at his two jobs so we headed over to his house to hang out with him and David. We caught up, made some plans for the future,» and watched some funny TV shows.
We managed to hang out for a decent amount of time before Clayton called inquiring on dinner plans. Jason and David had already ordered pizza for dinner and we were getting ready to go so we teamed up with Clayton, Tom and Dorreen for dinner at Aladdin’s. I love Aladdin’s. Their Greek dressing is the best dressing I’ve ever had and pretty much everything else is delicious as well (and the only reason I don’t straight up say that everything is delicious is because I don’t like hummus and certain other things, I know, how awful of me). Thumbs up for Aladdin’s always.
Party time was imminent after dinner so everyone got their costumes and party on. Christina showed up with two of her friends, Nagisa and Joyce, before I had my costume complete, but luckily everyone was friendly enough to make them comfortable in the meantime. I spent a large portion of my night chilling with these ladies. We played Beer Pong (Nagisa and Joyce’s first time!) and Christina and I even shut out Clayton and Tom!! They didn’t do their naked lap, which was incredibly disappointing, and were ridiculed well on into the next day. We were undefeated most of the night and decided to join the rest of the party around the bonfire when we finally did lose. I’m so glad I haven’t lost my skills! We all had such a fun time and thanks to daylight savings even had an extra hour!
We were really thankful for that extra hour the next morning. We had a hefty drive ahead of us and wanted to be home at a decent hour because Andrew had to work early the next morning. We weren’t in a huge rush to leave, but still had to be mindful to get our stuff together and get on the road before too late. We did manage to get a decent amount of lounging and recaping of the night before in before we had to leave and I was sad to go but so glad we came. We hit one more favorite on our way out of town for breakfast, Hal’s Deli on the Commons. We were in for a pleasant surprise when Gary walked in to join us right after we arrived! We were sad that we hadn’t had the chance to see him while in town and he was walking by on his way home and knew we like Hal’s so he decided to peek his head in in case we were there! More luck! Gary couldn’t chat long because he had some stuff to do but it was so nice to see him and we needed to be rather quick with our breakfast stop anyway. One more stop at the Maté Factor after breakfast then we were Boston-bound. Some people need their coffee, I need my maté, and now I can’t just walk to it here in Brighton.
Thanks guys for letting us stay with you and hosting such fun nights while we were there! We were very happy to see everyone and hope to see more people that we didn’t get to and have more time to spend with everyone the next time we’re in town. We’re planning for a long weekend after the holidays which will be Wedding oriented since we still have a lot of details to work out. Plus the party in March sounds like it’ll be Super fun! As we said many times over the weekend, Come Visit Us!! This includes friends and family who aren’t in Ithaca too! Our place is warm and cozy and can fit 4 extra people max. I’ll cook delicious treats and we’ll wander around Boston together!
