A Month in the Life – by Andrew
Hey Guys,
I felt like posting a little life update given that’s it been a while since our last post. I can assure you that Shelby and I have been doing many exciting things but are experiencing a the general laziness that comes over bloggers when confronted by chaotic real lives.
The Good:
- Shelby got a job as a Real Estate Agent! She passed her test (presumably with flying colors after how hard she studied- it’s Pass/Fail) and is now working hard pulling 6 day work weeks to try and rake in much needed wedding/fun-tymez money for us.
- I survived the Christmas rush at CSN Stores and am now working harder than ever to keep our categories growing strong and successful despite ever growing volume and our ventures into new territories building the brand and business.
- Xochipilli and Maggie are both doing fantastic. We finally got Xochi his first series of shots and are hoping to get his balls chopped off soon. They are both growing friendlier to each other (IE less playful and aggressive) every day and I think Xochi is finally learning to not hog all our attention so that Maggie can have some.
- Mallyn & Eric came to visit us for about 5 days for New Years and we went out to various things and showed them around Boston. Right after they left Angie came and stayed with us for a couple of days too! So in that 10 day (or so) period we went out quite a bit and had lots of adventures around Boston.
- I finally finished producing a remix to R. Audiard’s dub techno track “Fundament”. I put a lot of sweat into it and after a few weeks of persistence, I finally finished it. We’ll see if it’s good enough to make it onto the EP. It was fun and I was able to figure out a few techniques that used to be second nature to me when I was producing more frequently a few years ago.
- Shelby and I have decided to be vegetarians for the entire month of January. It’s been an interesting experience to say the least, and I am officially sick of cucumbers and pasta. This being Shelby’s first time, she’s doing fantastic and we feel pretty good about it so far. It’s a needed dietary change and will hopefully go along well with Shelby’s gym membership that I got her for Xmas.

The Not Quite As Good (but still pretty good):
- After an expensive Christmas and with heat bills more expensive than ever because of the Winter, Shelby and I are finding it hard to save for the wedding.
- Xochi is pretty much THIS close to start spraying so we are keeping our fingers crossed about that so we can neuter him in time.
- I’m on a noon-9PM shift for the next 4 or so weeks at work. It does have its benefits and I’m glad for the schedule change, but it still cuts me and Shelby’s evening time together significantly shorter.
- We’ve been reading like crazy! But alas…no money to buy more books lol. We’re making due with our collection at the moment and re-reading what we have in our little library. Same deal with my DJ’ing. As much as I need new music I’m making due with what I have until the next couple of paychecks permits it.
- Shelby and I have seen Avatar 3 times in 3D! While it’s been an awesome experience, it’s definitely had a toll on our wallet. As such we’re watching more movies at home, which is also fun and free but eats up plenty of our spare time (which is few and far between given our hectic work schedules).
- The weather is actually pretty mild in Boston during the winter so it’s been quite warm recently with temperatures hovering between 20-40 degrees depending on the week.
So as you can see there’s been quite a bit going on and mostly stuff that I can’t remember what with my terrible memory. But yeah, it’s been fun.
Anyways, we definitely like hearing from people so feel free to comment on this post! Besides on facebook, anyone who cares to drop us a line can feel free to shoot us an email.
